I’ve never been a fan of extreme temperatures, and in the Midwest summer can be the epitome of extreme. So suffice it to say summer has never been my favorite season. But, I have to say, it is growing on me. Not only is summer the season where my stepsons get to stay for an extended period, we all get to sleep in, spend our afternoons in the pool, and I just have to step out my front door to harvest some beautiful flowers. In the spirit of embracing the season, today I am going to share some of my summer favorites.

Summer Favorites

Apple Watch

We have been an Apple family for a long time, but I really resisted getting an Apple watch. It seemed like a REALLY expensive pedometer to me. I got my husband one for Father’s Day last year and seeing how functional it was for him made me reconsider. I finally decided I would start saving for one, and he surprised me by just bringing one home for me. I have a 3rd generation 42mm watch with GPS. I opted NOT to get one with cell service because we don’t use a major carrier.

Having the watch definitely motivates me to move more (gotta close those rings!) but what I love the most about it is that it has enabled me to put my phone down! Before I had a serious issue with being on my phone CONSTANTLY. This has enabled me to put the phone down and walk away without missing any important calls or texts.

Kevita Master Brew Pineapple Peach Kombucha

One of my main goals this year is health related, so that means I am trying to drink less wine (insert sad face). I am also continuing to heal my gut after being on antibiotics and pain killers for an extended period a couple of years ago. I have tried kombucha here and there, but it has become a daily habit now! My absolute favorite flavor is the Kevita Master Brew Pineapple Peach Kombucha. It is so good! It isn’t overly sweet, but it doesn’t have that vinegar taste that a lot of kombuchas do. It’s pretty easy to find, too, so pick one up next time you see it!

No More Faking Fine

I’ve had this book for quite a while, but it really speaks to where I am right now. There is incredible pressure to be perfect, to have a perfect Instagram, and make your home look like it was ripped from the pages of a magazine. But that isn’t real life. Bad things happen in life. This book gave me permission to grieve and lament. Being a Christian doesn’t mean your life is going to be perfect. As a matter of fact, there is a LOT of grieving and lamenting in the Bible! If you are going through a rough spot, this is a must-read. You’ll probably need some Kleenex, but you’ll start to heal. You can find No More Faking Fine here.

Contigo Tumbler

I mentioned earlier that one of my major goals revolves around health, so of course that means drinking more water! I have always carried a water bottle with me, but I find they often get gross and slimy quickly. I prefer drinking out of a straw, but glasses are just too easy to tip over. This Contigo Tumbler has been a PERFECT blend of the two! It seals around the straw so there is little to no spillage when the tumbler is tipped over, and it is double-walled, so no sweating to condensation. This has dramatically increased the amount of water I drink! I even use a stainless steel straw with it sometimes.

Tartelette In Bloom Eyeshadow Pallette

Every time I post a picture of myself I get TONS of questions about my makeup. I love makeup, but during the summer I want quick and easy and something that will transition in and out of the pool. I have been exclusively using this Tartelette In Bloom Pallette because the colors blend easily, it wears great, and the colors are pigmented. I find a lot of “natural summer looks” just look like no makeup on me, which isn’t what I am going for! But I also don’t want anything so heavy that it cant stand up to hot temperatures and the pool. I’ve had this pallette forever, and it is still a favorite!

Babyganics 50SPF Suncreen

Speaking of being in the pool, I have to share my favorite sunscreen with you. It has been really hard to find a sunscreen that isn’t full of scary chemicals that actually works. This Babyganics spray has protected even our most sensitive skin! This works just as well if not better as many of the “regular” brands I have tried!

Planner Kate Stickers

No favorites list would be complete without something planner related. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I have settled into a style of decorating my planner. I love these Planner Kate mini kits for a great blend of functional and cute. I can stretch each kit for a couple of weeks, so they aren’t bad on the budget either!

So those are a few of my summer favorites. Now back to the pool!
