Guys, 2020 is finally over! I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this has been a rough year for almost all of us. In 2020 I was cheated on, abused, left, divorced, had to go back to work in spite of many health issues, had to start over financially and emotionally, was forced out of my house and had to sell it … you could say I’ve been at the end of my rope.
Recently I was given the opportunity to watch the new movie Faith Under Fire starring Kevin Sorbo and Dean Cain. In the last few years there have been more and more faith based movies, with mixed reviews. The film follows firefighter Tom Hatcher who lost his wife to cancer, and is now watching his daughter succumb to the disease. He goes to church to find answers and ends up punching the pastor (it got my interest at this point, lol). The pastor turns into an unlikely friend who challenges Tom to find his faith in the middle of overwhelming grief.
This was definitely a low-budget production and had some cheesy moments, but the overall message of the movie was good and timely, at least for me. Do we truly believe that God is good? Do we trust him? Or do we only cling to our faith when things “make sense” and everything is going good? It made me stop and consider a lot of things.
