3 Easy Ways To Eat Healthier

Recently my husband and I both decided it was time to clean up our diets. We went shopping, and made plans for a drastic change. That lasted for about two meals before we got busy and ended up ordering a pizza.

The thing with making healthy changes is, they have to be lifestyle changes. If you make a bunch of drastic changes all at once the odds are you will never stick to them. I believe small changes can add up too big results, so today I am going to share a few changes we have made in our effort to eat healthier.

Don’t Keep Junk In The House

This seems like common sense, but it’s a tip I haven’t always adhered to. If you don’t want to eat junky food, keep it out of the house! I’ve often bought chips or candy for the kids, thinking “I just won’t eat it.” I think we all know how that story ends. Now I know that if I want to abstain from something, I need to not buy it in the first place.

Make Realistic Changes

Have you ever read a book or watched a documentary and been on fire to eat a certain way, then promptly fell off the wagon? This is the story of my life, only the wagon has run over me and backed up a couple of times. I recently read a book that suggests using no oil. I could see the reasoning behind it, but its not realistic that I will NEVER use a squirt of olive oil again. It IS realistic for me to shoot for eating 80% clean, so that is where I am starting.

Don’t Wait To Start

If you want to make some healthier dietary changes, don’t put off starting. My husband and I are the king and queen of “We’ll start Monday – let’s have a last hurrah!” Which generally equates to never starting, and consuming a lot of junk that we otherwise would not have. Start making changes today!

Make Better Choices

Instead of cutting out all of your favorite foods, make better choices. I love eating chips at night while watching TV. Instead of totally cutting it out, I just pop myself some popcorn instead. I still get the satisfaction of a salty snack, but without all of the fat and calories.

Ice cream is another big favorite in my house. Recently Arctic Zero sent an amazing box to me, full of their frozen dessert! Arctic Zero is naturally sweetened with monk fruit, and is lactose-free. The entire pint is only 150-300 calories (depending on the flavor), so this is definitely a healthier choice than traditional ice cream!

The key to making Arctic Zero resemble the creamy treat you are used to, is to thaw it a bit before serving. You can either microwave the pint for 30 seconds, or let it sit at room temperature. Then give it a little stir and enjoy!

The consistency reminds me of a fudge bar, and the flavors were all pretty tasty. Cherry Chocolate Chunk and Brownie Blast tied for my favorites, but my kids were all about the Cookie Shake flavor. If you want to try Arctic Zero out for yourself, it is available to purchase at select Target stores, and also available at natural and traditional grocers nationwide, including Albertsons, Kroger, Publix, Sprouts Farmers Market, Safeway, Walmart and Whole Foods Market as well as online at amazon.com and arcticzero.com.
