I posted last week about receiving my Young Living Essential Oils premium starter kit, and that we were already enjoying the oils. Well, we are over a week in now so I thought I would update you on how we have been using the oils, and what results we have seen.
My biggest hesitation on getting into essential oils was the price. The premium kit, which is the one I purchased, is $150, plus shipping and taxes it was closer to $170. I don’t know about you, but thats a lot of money to me! I think that is the sticky point for a lot of people. Sure, with the premium kit you can then buy at wholesale prices, but I didn’t know if I would be ordering enough to make the 24% discount worth it.
Initially I purchased the kit to address migraine and headache issues I had been having. I already posted about how the oils helped to eliminate my headaches and I haven’t had any since. This morning at church, for whatever reason, they shined spotlights into the crowd and the volume on the worship music was even louder than normal. As soon as the lights hit my eyes I felt a headache coming on. The only oil I had with me was Stress Away with a rollerball on it. I dabbed it on my neck where I could feel the throbbing starting, and within minutes it was gone.
So here is a little rundown of what we have had success with in the two weeks we have been using oils.
A few nights ago my daughter came to me because she had a canker sore in her mouth that was really painful. We put a drop of Thieves on a q tip and applied it to the canker sore. Thieves is a pretty hot oil, so she did a little dancing around and exclaiming, but once the burning subsided the pain was gone, and the canker sore was gone the next morning.
I was rear-ended twice about 8 years ago. I suffered severe whiplash both times, once to the point I had bruising on my brain, and my neck has never been the same. I think that is sometimes a major cause of my headaches. I have a knot in my neck that is like a rock, and pretty much always there. My husband tries to massage the knots away, but it has never really helped. Since I got the oils he has been massaging Valor, PanAway, and peppermint on my neck, and while it isn’t 100% better, the muscles have loosened considerably and that constant tension and pain isn’t there.
I stand on my feet for 12 hours a day, and no matter how much I pedicure them, I still get terrible callouses and cracked heels. I feel like I have tried everything to get my feet looking decent again to no avail. I have been applying lavender to my feet every night for sleeping purposes, but it has also dramatically softened the dry, calloused skin. They aren’t 100% better, but they are dramatically better, probably 75%!
Shortly after I got my kit I brought my oils to work with me to show my coworker. When she came in she commented that she was so tired she had almost fallen asleep on her drive in. I quickly looked up which oils were good for energy and waking someone up and ended up swiping peppermint on the back of her neck. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, she IS one of those people who gets drunk on Diet Coke, but holey moley did that peppermint work! She was the peppiest I have ever seen her for the rest of the morning! Needless to say, she is ordering her own kit. Since that day I have been swiping peppermint on the back of my neck when I get up, and it really does work. Of course, the fact that I am getting the best sleep I have had in years probably helps me wake up too!
I suffer from OCD tendencies, anxiety, and have a stressful job that can often trigger both of those. I have actually had people comment that I am in a much better mood lately. I definitely still feel stressed, but I immediately swipe some Stress Away on my neck, or dab some Peace and Calming on the inside of my wrists. The diffuser has been amazing for just keeping the whole house on an even keel. Lavender and Frankincense are great for stress and anxiety too. Before the oils a glass of wine was my coping mechanism from stress, and since the oils I have not had one drop of alcohol.
I have a little tennis elbow, and it was flaring up. I layered Valor, PanAway and Peppermint and the pain was INSTANTLY gone. Not only was it gone, it didn’t come back. Now I was impressed with that one!
My husband made a Mexican rice dish the other night, but we were out of chili powder. He made an executive decision and decided that cayenne pepper was a good substitute. 2 t later, his dish turned into a 17 alarm Mexican rice dish. I had a bit of heartburn after that dinner, so I turned to my oils to see which one would help. I rubbed peppermint on my chest in the area that
was burning with lava was uncomfortable, and a few minutes later it was gone, and didn’t return.
Thats just a sampling of what we have used the oils for the past few weeks, so to answer the question, yes, the kit is definitely worth it. Not only do you receive 11 oils, you get a diffuser (which is $95 retail), lots of great samples, and a rollerball to use on one of the oils. Purchasing a kit also qualifies you as a wholesale member, so you can shop at wholesale pricing, which is 24% less than retail. As a wholesale member you can sign others up under you if you want, but you certainly don’t have to. You only have to spend $50 per YEAR to retain your wholesale status.
If all that sounds good to you, here is how you get started. Head on over to my Young Living web site and on the left hand side clock “Sign Up Here.” That will take you to a signup page that looks like this:
Wholesale member should automatically be checked, but if not go ahead and check it. My sponsor and enrolled ID should also be filled in, but if not, the number is 1710487. Then you will want to choose your kit. The premium kit is the only one that you get oils AND a diffuser in, so like I said, I would recommend that one. Step 3 gives you the option to enroll in Essential Rewards, which is a monthly auto ship at reduced shipping cost. You also get a percentage back in free product after so many months. You don’t have to enroll in this, you can just click no at the bottom. Once you get a better feel for what you will actually be using on a regular basis this might be a better option.
Once you sign up I will add you to a private Facebook group that is full of people (who have all signed up under the same people) that have great questions and answers about oils. Its a great way to learn how to use your kit!
