We had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving dinner at home this year, which meant no travel, but also meant I had to cook everything. One holiday staple that my daughter will NOT let me forget is the cranberry sauce. I have always just bought it in a can, but this year I decided to be adventurous and make my own.
I had no idea how cheap and easy making homemade cranberry sauce is! And the best part is that I was able to incorporate Young Living Orange Essential Oil for an extra pop of flavor.
All you need is:
- A 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
- 1 C orange juice (you can do water, but I prefer OJ)
- 3/4 C sugar
- 2 drops Young Living Orange Vitality Essential Oil
Combine everything except the essential oil in a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Turn it to a good simmer and give it a stir every now and then. The cranberries will start to pop, and the sauce will start to thicken. After about 15 minutes take it off of the heat and add in the essential oil. Put in a container, let it cool, and enjoy!
I have never been a huge cranberry sauce fan, but now I know why! The lifeless glop from a can cannot hold a candle to homemade! We will definitely be including cranberry sauce in more of our family dinners.
