I posted a while back about buying the Thieves Essential Rewards kit from Young Living, and how much I LOVE all the products. Well, our Thieves Foaming Hand Soaps both ran out this week, and it will be at least 2 weeks until my next Essential Rewards order ships. So what’s a mom with 3 dirty-handed munchkins to do? I made my own!
I already had the foaming dispensers from the original Thieves soap, so all I had to do was concoct a mixture to fill them with. I did some Googling and a lot of recipes called for castile soap and a mixture of different essential oils, but I wanted to use some Thieves cleaner since, well, its the bomb.com.
I used about 3 T of Dr. Bronner’s castile liquid soap, 1 capful of Thieves cleaner, 5 drops of Thieves essential oil, then filled the rest of the container with water. It works great! The consistency is slightly different than the regular Thieves soap (maybe a little more watery) but barely noticeable. Especially to little boys who think they need to fill the sink with suds every time they wash their hands.
You could also add some lemon or lavender oil to this, but I LOVE the way Thieves smells, so I opted for just that oil.
If you aren’t already using Thieves foaming hand soap, check it out. It effectively cleanses and controls bacteria without drying the skin – not to mention its isn’t full of unpronounceable chemicals. Not into this essential oil thing yet?
