This DIY fall branch decor project was birthed from necessity. All summer long I have been putting fresh flowers from my garden in a vase on my table. While it isn’t quite fall yet, the leaves are starting to fall around here, and my flowers are starting to die off. I didn’t really want to pay for fresh flowers every week, and we have NO shortage of trees and branches, so why not incorporate them into my decor?
I love how The Prudent Homemaker pulls the outdoors inside, even when her flowers aren’t blooming, but I wanted to add a little more color.
I have a few DIY fall decor projects I am going to be sharing with you, but this is by far the easiest. Go find a few small branches – we tried to look for some that had some smaller twigs sticking out of them and not just straight sticks. Now, you can spray paint these OR brush acrylic paint on them. Or probably any kind of paint. I don’t think you can really screw up painting sticks.
Remember the upcycled kitchen island I posted? I am in love with the color, so I was excited to incorporate some more of it into my home. I had some spray paint left, so I just laid them out on a drop cloth, and gave them a few good coats. You definitely don’t have to worry about neatness with this. It’s even ok if some of the stick is showing through.
My daughter wanted a gold one, so she whipped out some acrylic paint. Hers took a bit longer, but I do love the metallic gold.
This was a fun, easy project for us to do together, and I love how it turned out! A little color, a little nature – perfect.
So what do you think, just sticks or unique fall decor?
I can’t refuse anything gold.
Have you incorporated anything unique into your fall decor?
