There are a lot of recipes out there for homemade cleaners, and I think I have tried them all! But who really wants, or NEEDS, to lug around a bunch of different cleaners? This all purpose cleaner will do everything from glass to floors.
Start by with an empty spray bottle. I got this on at the dollar store for $1 (imagine that). Add 1 cup of white vinegar, and then fill the bottle about an inch from the top with water. Add a small squirt of dish soap a viola – start cleaning! I wrote the recipe on my spray bottle with sharpie so I am not trying to remember where I wrote it down every time I run out. I use Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Dish Soap in Geranium. I LOVE the way it smells!
Now vinegar is a pretty good cleaner on its own, but if you really want to ramp up the cleaning power of this all-purpose cleaner use hydrogen peroxide on top of it. Spray a mist of the all-purpose cleaner, and then spray hydrogen peroxide right over the top. Studies have shown that this combo kills E coli and the flu. I use this combo in my bathroom and on my kitchen sinks, but I find the all purpose cleaner to be enough on its own for most surfaces.
In the near future I am going to be posting a series on cleaning – schedules and products, so keep an eye out for that!
