I have been reading about Amazon Subscribe and Save for a while. If you subscribe to have a product delivered in monthly increments (1 month to 27 months) you will save 5% on that item. If you subscribe to 5 or more items you will save 15%. Subscribe and save items ship for free!
I never saw much savings in this until recently when I switched up our dog food. Our vet had recommend Science Diet for our dogs, which they have eaten for 2 years. But with worsening allergy problems I decided to find something higher-quality for them. After trying a few brands we settled on one that was basically the most expensive bag at the pet food store. Of course my special snowflakes can’t do well on the cheap stuff …
So I decided to head on over to Amazon and see if I could find their food any cheaper. The retail price on a large bag of their food is $89.99, but with subscribe and save I am able to have it shipped to my door for $68.84. Thats over a $20 savings, plus it saves me the inconvenience of going to the pet store and the expense of my husband impulse buying doggie t-shirts! (I might have mentioned the Star Wars dog t-shirts a few times).
In order to get the 15% off I had to subscribe to 5 total items. I tried to think of things that we buy on a regular basis. I ended up subscribing to things that we use on a regular basis, but I don’t always remember to grab at the store or can’t find. I ordered garbage bags, mascara, heads for my toothbrush, and vegetable capsules to use with essential oils. All of these items were either the same price or cheaper than what I can buy them locally, and will be shipped to my front door!
Oh, and for the infamous dog food, this is what we bought:
Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost Grain-Free Venison and Lamb dry dog food. The dogs love the little raw bits, they pick them out like marshmallows in Lucky Charms. I told them that as much as their food costs they better start picking up their own poop. They don’t seem to think I am serious.
