4 Ways To Enjoy The End of Summer

My daughter started back to school today, and it kind of feels like the end of summer. But in reality there is quite a bit of summer left! While I may not be able to enjoy it with my daughter (high school junior; I can hardly believe it!), but there is still plenty of summer left for me to take advantage of. Today I am going to share a few of my favorite ways to spend what is left of the summer.

Reading Outside

We have a seating area in our backyard on the deck and it is my favorite place to spend an afternoon reading. Now that school is back in session the noise from the neighborhood kids is at a minimum, and since my kids aren’t home my interruptions are at a minimum as well.

If I am behind on work I will even bring my laptop outside and work from my patio table. There is nothing better than having a view of the blue sky and hearing the birds sing from your home office!

Enjoy Local Parks

Now that school is back in session we really value our time together as a family on the weekends. One of our favorite activities is checking out our local parks when the weather is nice. Now that we have reached the end of summer, the weather is downright enjoyable! Not too hot, not too cold, and tons of sun to enjoy.

Late Summer Gardening

The height of gardening season is over, but its not too late to get your fingers in the dirt! Depending on what growing area you are in, beets, carrots, kale and lettuce can still flourish before frost. Most of my garden was decimated by a severe hail storm earlier this year, but my plants are finally starting to produce some tomatoes and squash!

Sun Protection

All of these activities take advantage of the warm weather and sunshine that is left, so some precautions should still be taken. Any time you will be in the sun you should be using sunscreen. Recently I was sent some COOLA suncare products to try out. The Sport SPF 50 Guava Mango Sunscreen is an organic AEROSOL spray. It is darn near impossible to find a clean aerosol sunscreen that actually works! Plus it has an amazing guava mango scent.

They also sent me a mineral sunscreen stick, which is a tinted stick that provides a nice glow plus SPF 50. And Liplux Peppermint+Vanilla lip balm, which is SPF 15 and smells AMAZING. I think my favorite product is the Cool Face Makeup Setting Spray. It has an SPF of 30 and not only protects your skin from harmful rays, it stops the makeup meltdown on warm days. All of the products are free from parabens, paba and phthalates. You can get these products at Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom, as well as at coolasuncare.com.

How are you spending the end of summer? Let me know in the comments below!
